Irving Petlin, artist and activist, died at his summer home on Martha’s Vineyard at the age of 83.

Mr. Petlin spent his final days at home and at peace. He leaves behind a fiercely visionary and singular body of work. He will be missed.

Interment will be on Sunday, Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. at Abel’s Hill Cemetery in Chilmark.
