I am deeply saddened to hear this news, Rich was way too young. Rich was a wonderful guy and a dear friend. Always generous with his time and kind to everyone. When we worked together years ago, he welcomed me to the framing crew as if we were old acquaintances. We shared Entrain concerts, trips, Season's bar during the winters, Lucy V. beach with friends and all the Grateful Dead shows. You will be missed, the island is a lesser place without you. Kim, Ray, Niall and all the friends send their thoughts and prayers.

We are deeply saddened and shocked to hear that our good friend Richard Kelly passed away. Rich was a great person and a better friend you couldn't ask for. Rich was always fun to be around, he had a big booming laugh and an easy going manner. Rich loved Marthas Vineyard and always had an an adventure in mind for us to enjoy or get to know the island better. From epic up island hikes that could last all day, to clamming and oystering in secret spots that Rich had discovered; to watching the sunset on Menemsha beach and dancing to Rick Bausman and the other drummers, Rich was the driver behind it all. Rich liked a party and loved to entertain. When you were with Rich you always ate like a king. From summer BBQ's to winter dinner parties we ate like Royalty! Of course the beer and wine that flowed was top notch, and those dinners were some of my fondest memories of Rich. After dinner Rich loved to bring everyone out on a Snipe hunt, sometimes we'd go to the cemetery in Vineyard Haven just to freak everyone out. One night Rich heard that this guru was charging people huge money for the privilege of walking on burning coals barefoot to discover their inner peace or whatever. Our gang just showed up and got in line and walked over the coals for free! That was a great adventure thanks to Rich. Rich was an avid fisherman, a flower salesman, a talented carpenter and wood worker, a patron of the arts, a road warrior, a partier, a music lover and the kind of person you could always reach out to in a time of need. To think he was sick and didn't reach out to us hurts, but not as much as knowing that this world is a sadder place without Rich Kelly. We miss you, we love you. Rest in Peace our good friend, may our paths cross again.
