Sally Flagg (Faunce) Saniuta, born Nov. 23, 1929, originally from Edgartown and a longtime resident of Plymouth, died Dec. 19 at the age of 89. Her three daughters Nancy Sirrico (Green), Sue Herdman and Wendy Scandurra were by her side.
Mom/Gram/Gigi was smart, talented, loyal, generous and beautiful on the inside and out. She always had a smile on her face and a compliment that would make one’s day. She appreciated everything people did for her. Even when she could no longer speak clearly from the effects of Alzheimer’s, she would still say thank you to her caregivers.
Sally believed in what was right and just and it angered her if someone was being treated unfairly. She embraced diversity and appreciated the unique history of everyone. Her talents as a professional singer and photographic artist was a platform she used to meet the world. Sally was very spiritual which helped guide her through life.
She will forever be remembered by her three daughters and spouses, five granddaughters, and her eight great-grandchildren.
She is now in heaven with her soulmate Alphonse Saniuta, her husband of 71 years who passed Christmas Eve 2017.
The family will be celebrating both Sally and Al’s lives this spring on Martha’s Vineyard where their life together began. As Sally sees it, “thank you, God”.
