Victoria Labbancz died on the early morning of Dec. 31 of natural causes at Green Acres in Edgartown, where she had lived for the past three years. She was 99.

Known by her lifelong nickname Dede, she was born in Stamford, Conn., in 1919. She worked, married, was widowed and lost her immediate family of seven siblings before her. She lived in the Turn of the River area of Stamford most of her entire life, until moving to the Vineyard in 2015.

She is survived by her caregivers, niece Linda DeWitt and partner Robert Green, and nephews of the Cape and their families.

There will be a spiritual remembrance officiated by Father Micahel Nagle on Jan. 19, beginning at noon at St. Augustine’s Church in Vineyard Haven.
