Elizabeth Ann (Betsey) (Camacho) Mercurio of Quincy died surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Jan. 15. She was 65.

Born in Oak Bluffs, she was the daughter of the late Antone and Jane (Murphy) Camacho.

Betsey was a 1971 graduate of Martha’s Vineyard High School, and earned her bachelor’s degree form Worcester State University. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and crafts, and was an excellent swimmer who loved being at the beach.

One of her greatest joys in life was interacting with and enriching young children’s lives as a preschool teacher at East Milton Day Nursery School, Cornerstone Campus Preschool and Longwood Medical Child Care. Her greatest passion was her family and three children.

Betsey was the beloved wife of Daniel J. Mercurio of Quincy, and the devoted mother of John Mercurio and his wife Theresa of Hanover, Katy Cherry and her husband Chris of Quincy, and Christopher Mercurio and his wife Christi of Norwell. She was the loving grandmother of Daniel Mercurio of Norwell, and sister of the late Barbara and John Camacho.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock street, Quincy, Ma. A funeral mass will follow at noon in Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be private at a later date.
