Harriet Drusilla (Greene) Hickie died on Nov. 11 2018 surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late William Wesley Hickie, mother of Thomas L. Hickie and daughter in law Judy of Marshfield, and Kathleen Glinos and son in law Jac of Phillippi, West Va.

Born in North Tisbury on July 15, 1921 she was daughter of the late Louis M. Greene also known as Farmer Greene to Islanders and Zelma (Adams) Greene.

Dru was educated in Tisbury and a graduate of Tisbury High School. She grew up a farmer’s daughter working the farm and the greenhouses. She moved off-Island in 1943, to raise her family in Hingham, and moved back to the Island in 1980 for her retirement.

She loved bird watching, gardening, baking, making jellies and spending time with family. She was also an avid rock hound with a vast collection from her travels. She was very proud of her various flower gardens especially her daffodils.

She is survived by her sister Everel Black of Edgartown and was predeceased by her sister Jacqueline Greene of West Tisbury. She was the loving grandmother of five grandchildren and a great-grandmother of 11.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m. at the West Tisbury Cemetary.
