Lucette E. Silva died on April 13 at the Harbor Point Nursing Home in Centerville. She was 93.

She was born in Boron, France, on Nov. 23, 1925.

Lucette survived the invasion of the Germans during World War II. She was working at an American Army base as secretary in Fontainebleau, France. While working there in 1946, she met her husband Walter R. Silva, who was born at Tea Lane Farm in Chilmark. They married on August 11, 1947. They left Fontainebleau by train to Bremerhaven, Germany. It took them 10 days to cross the Atlantic to reach New York, where they were driven to Camp Kilmer, N.J., until Walter was discharged. They settled on Martha’s Vineyard. Lucette was a stay-at-home wife and mother.

She was predeceased by her husband and a son, Russell. She is survived by her children Reginald Silva and Rosemarie Deslauriers, and seven grandchildren.

A graveside service for the interment of her cremains will be held at the Abel’s Hill Cemetery in Chilmark on Wednesday, April 24, at 11 a.m.
