George Rogers Sr. died peacefully at home in Vineyard Haven Wednesday morning, surrounded by his family. He was 97.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs. A funeral mass will follow at 1:30 p.m. in St. Augustine's Church in Vineyard Haven. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Veterans of Martha's Vineyard.
