Dick was a many decade friend. Always friendly...always generous.A wry sense of humor that was always welcome. He was involved in some many areas that always benefited others. His loss is our loss.

I worked for Dick the summer of '73 into '74. A kind boss, one of the nicest people I've ever worked for. He had the uncanny ability to be patient, even when dealing with someone as inept as myself. I hope he was as kind to himself as he was to others.

A stellar example of a man, who did it all the right way in everything he did. You will be sorely missed but your bestowed civic legacy, talent and ethics will keep you with us... Dick certainly lead by example with that contagious smile..

Over the years, I worked on many construction projects with Dick and his partner, Mike Zadeh. They were always a delight to work for/with, and I found that Dick embodied, and occasionally shared verbally, a business and personal philosophy that I try to emulate. A wise and honorable man, he will be sorely missed.

Dick Knight and Chappy are inseparable to me. I miss him so.

When we look around our house, we always think of Dick with gratitude! He made our house (with Michael Zadeh) so much better. We thought of him as incredibly young. So we miss him a lot.

Donna and I knew Dick for 35 years. He built our house here on Chappy followed by a major renovation and expansion years later. In a way he became part of our family. Dick was always a role model to us and our kids as a person seemingly in complete synergy with his environment, the people he interacted with on many levels, and the island to which he was devoted. He was a master builder and contractor and explicitly honest, consistent and dependable, and in this regard he has left a material legacy on the island. However, he was far more than that for all of us who he interacted with as a human being. Dick was taken from us way too early and that is a personal tragedy, but I think Dick would want to be remembered simply as a a good guy who made a difference to many many people and to this island that he loved.

Dick was a good friend of my grandparents and in particular my grandfather Joe Cressy. I met Dick when I was young while visiting Chappy. He was always kind to me and my family, and though I may not remember much of those early days, I do remember always hearing his name spoken of fondly throughout the house. I'm terribly sorry to hear of his passing.
