Rosann S. Mallinson died on March 20, with her daughter Michele by her side and holding her hand. She was 77.

Rosann was born on May 31, 1943 in New Haven, Conn. She grew up in a three-family, multi-generational home where she was always surrounded by the love of her extended family much like her daughter and family have experienced living in Harthaven.

She graduated from St. Mary’s High School Class of 1961 and continued her studies at Southern Connecticut State Teachers College. In 1969, she and her young family moved to Cheshire, Conn., a town and community she would call home for the rest of her life.

To say she was a people person is an understatement. Rosann was generous with her warm, welcoming smile and available to listen to whatever anyone wanted to share. Her home was always open to family, neighbors and her children’s friends. For years, she worked in a variety of customer service positions. In 1998 she took on her most loved “job” as a Grandma.

She began spending time on Martha’s Vineyard when her daughter and son-in-law, Alley Moore, moved here. She would often visit for birthdays, holidays, dance recitals and to spend time with her granddaughters. She grew to love the Island.

She is survived by her daughter Michele A. (Allen) Moore; son Richard M. Mallinson; granddaughters Emily and Nina Moore and sister Karen Swanson. She was predeceased by her son Rus sell T. Mallinson 3rd and her brothers Brian Mallinson and Roderick Garrand Mallinson 3rd. She was Auntie to many and a life-long friend to Nancy (Mrs. B.) Barr. A service was held on March 27th in Connecticut A scholarship is being created in her memory. Donations can be made to Cheshire Education Foundation at cheshireeducationfoundation.org Please write R.
