Samuel Elder Barnes, 91

Samuel Elder Barnes died peacefully on June 11 at Kimball Farms in Lenox. He was 91.

A graveside service will be held at noon on Wednesday, June 16 in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Vineyard Haven.

A full obituary will appear in a future edition of the Gazette.

I am so sorry to learn of the passing of Mr. Barnes, our Hazelwood Terrace neighbor. He was such a dignified and refined gentleman, and also had a friendly smile and "Hello for neighbors. I learned from neighbors that Mr. Barnes was a fabulous singer also. He never bragged about himself, but was interested in the lives and welfare of others. Lord's comfort to Mr. Barnes friends and family.
