Carol Lewis Pease died surrounded by family on Saturday, May 8, after a year-long illness. She was 63.

Carlie, as she was known to friends and family, was born August 27, 1957 in Oak Bluffs, the daughter of Allen H. Pease and Beverly Pease Williams. She grew up in Kensington, Conn. and summered on Martha’s Vineyard. Her passion for nature and animals led to a study of the nesting habits of endangered plovers on the Island.

In 1990, she married David S. Revenaugh on the Vineyard. Together they embarked on a major renovation of her ancestors’ estate in Kensington on the property of the Moore Hudson River School painters. When David died in 2016 after a long series of illnesses, Carlie determinedly took up teaching science and fully embraced her role as a single parent.

She will be interred at West Lane Cemetery in Kensington on August 20 at 2 p.m. with an open church service, followed by a reception at Kensington Congregational Church at 3 p.m.

A celebration of life will take place in June 2022 on the Vineyard.
