Christine W. Swansey of Vineyard Haven died at home on Nov. 13. She was 65.

She was born and raised on Cape Cod with periods of time in New Hampshire and Mexico before moving to Martha’s Vineyard permanently.

At an early age, she discovered that her mother was not the best cook and she started cooking for her family. Feeding people became one of her biggest joys. She could turn a few basic ingredients into a delicious dinner. She was famous for her stuffed quahaugs and quahaug chowder.

She attended Rittners School of Floral Design in Boston and had a talent for wreath making and dried flower arrangements.

In her later years, she was a dedicated grandmother and spent endless time telling stories and playing games with her two beloved grandsons. She loved cheering for them during their hockey and baseball games.

She was predeceased by her parents, Muriel and Charles Swansey; her sister Elizabeth (Betsy) Swansey; and her brother Charles (Charlie) Swansey. She is survived by her daughter Melissa Swansey; grandsons Wyatt and William Nicholson; sister Patricia Rohr and her husband Joe; nieces Minta Rohr and Hillari Russo and her husband Dan, their children Donovan and Greta; and her nephew Thomas Swansey, his wife Angela and their two children.

A private memorial will be held at a date to be determined.
