Althea Doughty Davies died in Daytona Beach, Fla, on Dec, 20, 2021 in the company of her daughters Suzanne Hurst and Patti Brenneman. She was 90.

She had lifelong ties to Martha’s Vineyard, starting at birth, She was born Feb. 28, 1931 in the cottage hospital in Oak Bluffs, the daughter of hoteliers Anna St. John Doughty and Floyd Smith Doughty of the Providence House and various boarding houses in Oak Bluffs. She worked as a teenager with her brothers, Arthur and Floyd Doughty at the A&P on Circuit avenue, and later as head waitress at the prestigious Boston House.

She loved to sew, cook and help people in any way that she could.

Althea was predeceased by her parents Floyd and Anna Doughty; her sisters Marian Stevenson Delia Ferriera and Rose Peto; her brother Floyd, Jr.; her husband Joseph P. (Petie) Davies; her beloved grandson Cameron; and her son in law Shane Brenneman.

She is survived by her sister Louise Pepsak; brother Arthur Doughty; daughters, Suzanne Hurst and her husband Donald, and Patti Brenneman and her husband Alex Munson; granddaughter Mckensie Malecki; great-granddaughters Lauren Blanton, Maci Villerreal and Rylin Rossie; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Interment will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Oak Bluffs on May 12 at 1 p.m.
