Lois Nicoletta Gorman of Cary, N.C., and formerly of Martha’s Vineyard, died on July 17 at the WakeMed medical center in Cary. She was 88.

She was born on October 13, 1933 in Clearfield, Pa., the daughter of the late Albert and Caroline Cillo Barone. On Nov. 5, 1955, she married John Gorman.

She worked as a registered nurse for various hospitals as well as in the Madison, N.J. public school system. She was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church in Madison and, previously, St. Francis Catholic Church in Clearfield, Pa.

In her free time, she enjoyed browsing garage sales, combing the beach, and opera. She chatted with anyone and everyone she met. She also loved to cook.

She is survived by her husband, John Gorman; sons Christopher Gorman of Cary, N.C. and his wife Anne, and Gregory Gorman of Point Pleasant, N.J.; a brother, Albert Barone and his wife Lynda of Millersville, Pa.; and grandchildren Katherine Gorman of Durham, N.C., Thomas and Ethan Gorman of Cary, N.C., and Eva, Lilla and Sandor Gorman, all of Point Pleasant, N.J.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Her funeral will be held at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Clearfield, Pa. on Thursday, July 28 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Robert J. Horgas as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, also in Clearfield.
