Franz (Frank) Josef Porfido died on August 24 in Stuart, Fla. He was 73.

He was born August 12, 1949 in Pasing, Germany to Attilio and Ruth Porfido. Soon after, his family moved to Queens, N.Y., where he was raised and grew up working at his father’s candy store, Frank’s Candy.

He later joined the U.S. Navy and served honorably from May 12, 1969 to January 19, 1973. While in the military he met his wife, Rae Ergas. They later moved to Martha’s Vineyard where they lived for years and had two children, Joseph Porfido and Samantha Porfido.

Frank was loved beyond measure and will be remembered for his beautiful spirit, and his love of cooking, fishing and the great outdoors.

He is survived by his children Joey and Samantha; his beautiful granddaughter Isabela Porfido; and his siblings Mary Porfido, Mark Porfido and Lisa Porfido Ramos.
