Francis M. (Terry) Simonds of Edenton, N.C. died peacefully at his home on Nov. 2. He was 89.

He was born in Great Neck, N.Y. on August 23, 1933, the son of the late Francis May Simonds Jr. and Marion Carey Dinsmore Simonds.

He attended Georgia Tech University to train for his career in electrical engineering and technical writing. He worked for General Electric and, later, Scientific Atlanta. He also served in the United States Army.

He was a former resident of Martha’s Vineyard,

He had a large circle of family and friends who knew him as Sim, T, the T Man, Ole Dad and Oh, Pool Boy. Whenever called by any of those names, he knew he was with those who loved him best.

He is survived by Midge Simonds, his wife of nearly 50 years; his daughter Carol Simonds of Columbus, Ga., son Skip Simonds and his wife Jo, also of Columbus, Ga. and son Mike Simonds and his wife Jennifer of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; grandchildren Kari, Matt and Georgia; great-grandchildren Brantley and Emory; nieces Elaine Bonney and her husband Chris of Virginia Beach, Va., Marsha Winters and her husband Phil of Tampa, Fla., and Katherine Rodenhouse and her husband Mark of Norfolk, Va.; and his nephew Ty Henley of Richmond, Va.
