Richard J. DeWitt of Chilmark died unexpectedly on Nov. 5 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. He was 68.

He was the husband of Ann Clemow DeWitt.

A funeral service will be held at a later date to be announced. A complete obituary will appear in a future edition of the Gazette.

Rich was Chairman of the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee and a very valuable Leader. He never said no , but pushed us on to better serve the bicycling community and the towns on the Vineyard. It was an honor to serve with Richard and he will be missed.
