Richard R. Biros of Edgartown died peacefully at his home on Dec. 11. He was 91.
For 65 years, he was the loving and attentive husband of Martha Biros.
Richard was born Nov. 8, 1931 and raised in New Jersey by George and Marie Biros before moving to Martha’s Vineyard full-time in 1998.
He served in the United States Army and graduated from Montclair University in New Jersey before receiving his master’s in education.
He had a 40-year long career in education, including being a Fulbright Exchange teacher, biology teacher, vice principal and board of education member.
He was an avid photographer — mostly of birds in New England and Florida — and a talented woodworker, creating many things for both his home and his family.
He enjoyed a good conversation and loved his family, friends and the wonderful team of caregivers who cared for him over the years. He enjoyed their visits and phone calls.
Richard will be missed by his wife Martha; his son Richard and his wife Beth Diana of Edgartown; his daughter Beth and her husband Jeff of Fort Myers, Fla.; his six grandchildren, Michael and his spouse Jiayi, Marc and his spouse Stowe, Aaron and his spouse Catherine, Rebecca, Michelle and her spouse Eric, and Andrew and his spouse Carolyn; and his two great-grandchildren, Wade and Ezra.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard, P.O. Box 1748, Vineyard Haven, MA 02568 or online at hospiceofmv.org/donations.
