Edwin John Merck died April 8 at his home in Tiverton, R.I. He was 77 and was a former resident of West Tisbury, where he had lived from 2013 to 2023. He had many Island friends.

He is survived by his son Evan Merck, daughter in law Emily Hanson and grandson Arden Hanson of Maynard; and two brothers, John Merck and Michael Merck. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas Merck, who died in June 2023.
