Frank Robert Bazos of Lexington and Chilmark, died suddenly a year ago on July 19, 2023. He was 56 years old.

Frank was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He graduated from Lower Canada College (1984), Phillips Exeter Academy (1986), Dartmouth College (1990) and Harvard Business School (1994). He had a long and fulfilling career in private equity.

He was loved and admired by all for his good nature, honesty and integrity, his ability to make and nurture friendships and his drive in planning each day to include many activities and good times. He was passionate about all manner of outdoor adventure and sharing it with those around him.

He first visited Martha’s Vineyard when he met his wife, Sarah, whose family (Moore–Bureau) had been summering in Menemsha since the 1930s. The couple spent summer vacations here for many years, creating wonderful memories with their children and eventually found a home to purchase.

An avid cyclist, he would relish riding his gravel and mountain bikes across the Island and delight in discovering new trails. With favorable weather, a long kayak in Menemsha and Quitsa Pond was another way to enjoy different perspectives. The family’s boisterous Labrador, Larsen (named after the fish market!), encouraged daily exploration on foot in Menemsha Hills, Prospect Hill and Waskosim’s Rock Reservation, as well as long romps on Lucy Vin cent and Philbin beaches in the off-season. During these past several years, their home on the Island was a haven of fun and purpose that they loved to share with family and friends.

Above all, he was devoted to his family. He is dearly missed by his loving wife of 25 years, Sarah Bureau Bazos and their three children, Olivia, Peter and Willa; by his parents Karen and Robert Bazos; his four siblings, Rob, George (Cassandra Hawron Bazos), Connie and Barbara (Marc Joyal); his mother-in-law Sandys Bureau; his sisters-in-law Rebecca Bureau (Oriol Ferrer Mesià) and Hannah Bureau Sias (Jeff Sias); his nieces, Isla and Elsi Sias and Reese Bazos.
