Terrence Edmund McCracken, known fondly as Terry, died at the age of 83.

Terrence was born on Oct. 24, 1941, in Attleboro. An ambitious and dedicated individual, he was known for his industrious spirit and his generous heart.

He studied at Bentley College and Providence College, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree. He had a successful career in finance administration that spanned various companies from Providence, R.I., Chattanooga, Tenn., to San Paulo, Brazil. His competence in finance and administration led to him becoming president and owner of Herrick and White Ltd. in Cumberland, R.I., where he retired from in 2006.

A man of many interests, he was always on the go, whether it was camping, helping his sons in Boy Scouts or renovating homes, he was always staying busy.

He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Attleboro and St. Mark’s Church in North Attleboro. His generous spirit and dedicated service made him a beloved figure in his community. He will be remembered for his competence, his integrity and unwavering dedication to his work and his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia McCracken with whom he shared 62 years of marriage, since their union on May 4, 1962; his sons, Lance McCracken of Uppsala, Sweden, Shane McCracken of North Adams, Ed McCracken of West Tisbury and John McCracken of Athens, Ga; his grandchildren, Daniel of Providence, R.I., Briana of Attleboro, Luke, Reese, Grady and Hazel of Martha’s Vineyard, Ian of Athens, Ga., Lee, Maxwell, Ivy and Owen of Uppsala, Sweden; and his sister Margaret LaChance and her husband Don of Wilmington, N.C.

He was predeceased by his parents, Edmund and Irene McCracken; his sisters, Maureen McCracken and Marsha Eusnor; and his brother James McCracken.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, July 25, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main Street, Attleboro, Mass., 02703. Burial will take place at a later date. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
