Roscoe Conklin Little 3rd died on Dec. 4 at the age of 67, in Reston, Va.
Born on April 6, 1957, Roscoe, known to friends and family as (Ross), was a proud father, loving partner and loyal friend. He was the eldest son of the late Ross and Jean Little, and was brother to Sarah Holcomb (Westerfield, Ohio) and James Little (Springfield, N.J.).
He is survived by Carol Nicolai, his devoted partner of 13 years, and his four children to Ruth Hazel, his wife of 18 years: Whitney Little of McLean, Va.; Jackie Little of Venice, Calif.; Christina Benza of Waterford, Va.; and David Little of Broad Run, Va.. He was also a proud grandfather to Tripp and Huntley, Christina’s children with her husband, George Benza.
He is also survived by Carol’s two sons, Oray and Jack, with whom he shared a distinctive bond.
Ross was a graduate of Duke University (class of ‘79) and The Wharton School of Business (class of ‘83). He was an advisor at investment firm Miles Howland & Co., LLC and chair of the Board of Second Genesis Foundation. He was also a professor of finance at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.
He was a gifted photographer, a wine and food enthusiast, avid home chef, obsessive movie buff and passionate reader. He loved nothing more than spending time on Martha’s Vineyard, watching Duke basketball games with friends and tailgating for Navy lacrosse games.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. at the Army Navy Country Club in Fairfax, Va. In keeping with Ross’s favorite color, attendees may feel free to wear navy blue.
