Lynette Brady Clarke of North Falmouth died on Feb. 22 in Panama due to complications from chronic lung disease, while on vacation with her husband Will. They celebrated their 43rd anniversary there on Feb. 20.

She was 71.

Lyn was born in Natick on March 20, 1953 but the family soon moved to Nyes Neck, and she lived in Falmouth for the rest of her life.

She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1971, and took a job in the chemistry department at WHOI where she was known for her precision and attention to detail. She worked her way up from dishwasher to research assistant. It was there that she met Will and they were married in 1982. They had two children, Chelsea and Raven.

Lyn was a dedicated mother and left WHOI in 1984 to devote her time to raising her children. She loved books and reading. Once both of her children were in school, she went to work at the North Falmouth Public Library, where she especially loved reading at the children’s story hour.

She loved the ocean, the beach and especially sailing. She was proud of the trophies she won sailing the family Beetle Cat in West Falmouth, and she was never happier than when she had a tiller in one hand and the main sheet in the other.

She was an accomplished fiber artist and most recently took up weaving in her retirement. She loved flower arranging, iPhone photography, classic rock music and nature in all forms. She loved beautiful things and had a gift for seeing the beauty in everything around her.

Lyn was easy to love and will be deeply missed by her husband William Clarke, her children Chelsea Clarke Sawyer and Raven Clarke, her son-in-law Justin Sawyer and her siblings Kristin Ladd, Cynthia McIntosh and Michael Brady, as well as her many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents Angela (Robin) Burke and Duane Norman Brady, her brothers Eric and Duane Jr., and her mother-in-law Louise Clarke.

Planting flowers would be a wonderful way to honor Lyn, as would donating to your favorite cause.

A celebration of life is planned for 2 p.m., May 2, at Church of the Messiah in Woods Hole.
