There are myriad reasons why so many fishermen and women enter the month-long derby, and few of those reasons have to do with the rich array of prizes. It's all about being out on the water and at the water's edge, in a beautiful place, at a spectacular time of year.

"The fishing has been phenomenal," derby chairman Joe El-Deiry said, reporting that more than 100 fish crossed the scales last Saturday.
