More than 100 runners braved chilly temperatures, blustery winds and a hilly course to compete in the 11th annual Gay Head Light 10K Sunday. This year’s road race was dedicated to Len Butler,  who was instrumental in the effort to move the lighthouse to protect it from erosion.

After starting at the top of the Aquinnah circle, the route took runners west along State Road, then back along Moshup Trail, then past the Gay Head Light for a quick trip around the circle to the finish line.

The course is one of the most beautiful you will ever see, starting and finishing at the lighthouse. It winds its way along the ocean and dunes of Aquinnah making it hard to keep your eyes on the road. The course is U.S. Track and Field certified.
