Mild. That is the word to describe the weather this January. Aside from a few days earlier this week, temperatures have stayed well above freezing; no need for long johns, extra gloves or earmuffs. Lonely snow shovels stand at attention by garage and basement doors, ready for duty, but alas no one calls.

Could it be that this is the harbinger of a mild winter? It is too early to say, of course, but for now no one is complaining.
