Beach Road is ablaze in blooms of pink, red and white flowers as rosa rugosa brighten the dunes. Timothy Johnson

Sunday, June 5, 2016

On beaches and at the edge of farm fields, rosa rugosa is the flower of the month — great drifts of them, strewn across the landscape like a scene brushed by Monet. Daisies are also in bloom. Baltimore orioles and finches decorate bird feeders with their brilliant oranges and yellows. A cardinal trills loudly outside the Gazette newsroom.

Hello June, the month for brides and graduates and the first ice cream cone of the season.
