Eager young anglers were up with the sun for kids derby day at the Oak Bluffs Steamship wharf. The annual event brings derby excitement to children old enough to hold a rod and up to 14 years old. Winners are determined by length, not weight, and any species is fair game.

Winners took home new rods and tackle; fun was had by all.

Overall Winner: Hannah Gibbs, 13, 19.75-inch shark

Largest scup: Luciano Baldwin, 10, 13-inch scup

Eight years old and younger division:

First: Roy Lockis, 6, 18-inch Atlantic eel

Second: Mikey Waters, 7, 16-inch sea bass

Third: Ben Parker, 5, 15.5-inch fluke

Nine to 11 division:

First: Landon Medeiros, 9, 17-inch fluke

Second: Paul Saucier, 10, 16.5-inch sea bass

Third: Dylan Kral, 9, 15-inch flounder

12 to 14 division:

First: Zach Murray, 12, 15.5-inch sea bass

Second: Brenton Wood, 12, 14.5-inch sea bass

Third: Ryan Giordano, 12, 14-inch sea bass
