The lawn outside the former Chilmark Chocolates was the liveliest spot in town on Saturday, as customers flocked to a pop-up yard sale benefiting the Vineyard Independence Partnership.
Chilmark Chocolates sold its final box on Wednesday — closing the door on an Island institution that has endured as a singular business for more than three decades.
Chilmark Chocolates headed into its final weekend Thursday with a steady series of automobiles pulling up the driveway. After 33 years in business the store closes on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Senior citizen that I am, I am relatively unconcerned about gaining weight. At least I was, until I went on a chocolate-eating binge last month in Belgium. I ate some pretty trendy chocolates.
