Hot Tin Roof Under Agreement for Sale to Rosenthal Brothers

The Hot Tin Roof, the 26-year-old Vineyard nightclub that has
weathered the bumps of age alongside the baby-boomers who were its first
patrons in 1979, is slated to be sold to new owners before the end of
the year.

Barry Rosenthal, a West Tisbury resident and marketing and
communications executive who is president of B/R Creative, has signed an
agreement to buy the Roof along with his brother, Dr. Arthur Rosenthal,
a Ph.D. scientist who lives in the Boston area.

Struggling Nightclub Is Put Up for Sale

Less than three years after they bought the Vineyard’s premier music venue, the owners of the Outerland nightclub have been forced by mounting debts to put it back on the market.

In a letter that went to creditors late last week, Barry Rosenthal, who is manager and co-owner of Outerland, said the club will close for good Nov. 30.

In his letter, Mr. Rosenthal asked for patience from the creditors.

A group of Vermont nightclub owners aim to open for business on the property formerly housing the Outerland nightclub this summer.

Partners in Ya Dude LLC, who operate Nectar’s nightclub in Burlington, Vt., want to sublet the property from Bar LLC. the company owned by Barry and Mona Rosenthal, who operated Outerland for three years until last fall.

First they need the approval of the Martha’s Vineyard airport commission, which owns the property, and also the Edgartown selectmen, who issue the liquor license for the club.
