Martha’s Vineyard Airport officials voted Thursday to approve a new lease for Animal Health Care Associates, one of the few remaining pet care facilities on the Island.
Kirsten Sauter, the now-retired veterinarian behind My Pet's Vet on State Road, and her husband David sold the building on August 24 for $1.3 million to R.W. Bryant Realty, LLC.

Atwood of Animal Heath Care Associates in West Tisbury was recently elected chairman of the Veterinary Medicine Academy of the prestigious National Academies of Practice at the NAP’s annual meeting and spring forum in Washington, D.C. The NAP is comprised of 10 health care academies whose members include top individuals in their field. Becoming a fellow of the NAP is considered a high honor; only the most distinguished professionals are considered for nomination and election.
It was the scanner call heard around the Vineyard on Sunday afternoon: a horse in West Tisbury had fallen into a frozen pond. And more than a dozen volunteers from across the Island responded. A day after a large blizzard left a foot of snow in its wake, the meadow in Deep Bottom Pond was a sheet of white. There was no noticeable difference between the manmade pond and the meadow.
