Translating Buddhist Methods at the Yoga Barn

Kyabgön Phakchok Rinpoche translates Buddhist methods into techniques for creating inner peace, kindness and compassion. He will give two free talks next week at the Yoga Barn.

Yoga Teacher Training

The Yoga Barn in Chilmark and Adult and Community Education of Martha’s Vineyard (ACE MV) have teamed up to provide a nine-week yoga teacher training course. The classes will take place one weekend per month from September through May 2013. College credits from Florida State University are available.

Rinpoche Leads Teaching

Kyabgön Phakchok Rinpoche leads a dharma talk on meditation tonight, August 9, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Yoga Barn, located on South Road in Chilmark. The talk focuses on creating space in daily life.

Rinpoche is one of the heads of the Taklung Kagyu Lineage. He is abbot of several monasteries in Nepal, assists monasteries and practice centers in Tibet and heads dharma centers in North America and Asia. His teachings are nonsectarian, combining the teachings of the Vajrayana, Mahayana and Theravada.

Acupuncture at the Yoga Barn

Acupuncture at the Yoga Barn Licensed acupuncturist Iris Gold has returned to Five Seasons Acupuncture at the Yoga Barn in West Tisbury for the summer season. Ms. Gold has more than 29 years of experience using herbs and supplements to address issues such as digestive disorders, headaches, stress and chronic pain. Yoga Barn Hosts Benefit Class for Haitian Relief

There will be a yoga class for Haiti this Friday evening at the Yoga Barn, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. All levels are welcome and wanted in the class led by Mollie Doyle.

Class is free, but every dollar donated, up to $1,500 will be matched by the Yoga Barn for the people of Haiti, through Partners In Health (, which is providing medical care, food, shelter and aid to the people through its existing clinics in Haiti.

The Yoga Barn is hosting workshops with Libby Barnett, MSW and reiki master. Reiki I is Saturday, April 30, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Reiki II is Sunday, May 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The tuition for Reiki I is $95 and for Reiki II is $130, both discounted from regular tuition. As an additional discount Reiki I will be offered at $75 for nurses (proof of certification required).
