A story in the Tuesday Gazette about the intended purchase by the Martha’s Vineyard Museum of the old Marine Hospital in Vineyard Haven misquoted executive director David Nathans. Mr. Nathans did not say the price being negotiated was “substantially” below the list price for the property.

In an obituary on Friday for Arthur R. Railton, the editor and writer for the Dukes County Intelligencer, the Gazette overlooked the editorship of the late George W. Adams, who served for a year between the editorships of E. Gale Huntington and Mr. Railton.
Working with the photographer Alison Shaw and designer Janet Holladay, Mr. Adams — a former reporter for the Vineyard Gazette — modernized the layout of the Intelligencer, establishing the template that the publication still uses today.
Correction
A story in last week’s Gazette about Tisbury shellfish constable Danielle Ewart misspelled her first name. Also Ms. Ewart was misquoted early in the story; she said she wants a Chevy, not a Dodge. The Gazette regrets the errors.

An item published last Friday indicated the wrong day for Linsey Lee’s oral history workshop. It is Saturday, March 26.

Corrections
A story about a federal court case over alleged gasoline price fixing on the Vineyard reported inaccurately on the circumstances surrounding a large loan made by wholesaler Drake Oil to gas station owner Fran Paciello. The court decision did not say that Mr. Paciello had been unable to obtain a loan through ordinary banking channels.

An obituary for Dorothy Barker that appeared in last week’s Gazette contained the incorrect date of death. Mrs. Barker died on Feb. 21, two months after her 100th birthday.
Correction
A story in last Friday’s Gazette about bees and the pollinator crisis provided the wrong date for a talk by Beekeeping for Dummies author Howland Blackiston. Mr. Blackiston will speak at the Wakeman Center in Vineyard Haven on March 15. The Gazette regrets the error.
