The League of Women Voters of Martha’s Vineyard is holding its candidate discussions on Zoom, with no audience participation.

Island voters are invited to meet and question candidates for local offices at a series of voter forums sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Martha’s Vineyard.

On the centennial of the historic suffrage movement granting women the right to vote, the League of Women Voters of Martha’s Vineyard is launching a year-long campaign that aims to register every eligible person on the Island to vote.

2017

The League of Women Voters of Martha’s Vineyard is sponsoring a series of voter forums prior to local elections.

2015

The ongoing affordable housing crisis and long-term town planning were central themes in Tisbury Tuesday night as candidates introduced themselves to voters. The election is April 28. There are contested races for selectman and planning board.

1960

Mrs. Guy W. Stantial and Mrs. Malcolm McBride, two Vineyard summer residents of long standing, are to be presented on a radio broadcast commemorating the fortieth anniversary of the ratification of the nineteenth amendment to the Constitution, over WEEI on Thursday, Aug. 25. The broadcast will be entitled, The Women Who Won, and Mrs. Stantial and Mrs. McBride are two of those who helped achieve woman’s suffrage through this amendment.

Another of the women who won is Mrs. Rosa Roewer of Pigeon Cove, Rockport, who has been a visitor on the Vineyard recently.
