With a search under way for an interim fire chief, Oak Bluffs town leaders said Tuesday a short-term plan is beginning to take shape.

Voters will face a choice this spring for how best to reduce the use of plastic: study the issue for a year, or adopt an outright ban on the sale of small-sized plastic bottles.

Oak Bluffs selectmen said this week they have begun networking with other fire department heads, on Island and on Cape Cod, as they map a transition plan for the fire department.

In a hastily called emergency session, Oak Bluffs selectmen met Saturday with approximately 35 members of the fire and EMT staff.
