From the track to the tennis courts, the lacrosse fields to the baseball and softball diamonds, to the ocean waters, spring sports is firing on all cylinders.
While winter winds still whip across the fields, the Vineyard’s high school athletes are braving the elements and taking on the challenge of spring sports in not-so-springlike weather.
The girls hockey team will travel to TD Garden on March 16 to be honored during the hockey state championships with the James F. Mulloy Ice Hockey Team Sportsmanship Award.

The boys and girls high school hockey teams both lost in the first round of playoffs Thursday, with the girls losing in overtime 3-2 to Pembroke and the boys losing 2-1 to Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School.
The team scored its most points ever in a state meet to wrap up a breakout season.
