The Holmes Hole Sailing Association will be docking at the Wharf Restaurant in Edgartown on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. for their annual dinner. A spot at the table needs to reserved by Feb. 10.

Leading this sail to the stomach will be newly elected Commodore Dan Culkin.

On the menu will be prime rib, salmon or grilled chicken. Sides will include mashed potatoes, spinach, chowder and salad.

The cost for the evening is $40. All supporters are invited to attend.

The Holmes Hole Sailing Association sponsored the 33rd running of the George Moffett Race on Saturday, Sept. 11.

The Holmes Hole Sailing Association race on Thursday night July 22 was a warm evening with a pleasant 10 knots of west wind. Twelve boats posted for the 6 p.m. start at red nun 6. The course took the fleet to green can 23a at East Chop then to nun 4 at West Chop, and back to nun 6. The first leg was a broad reach on the port tack. After rounding the nun, a beat to West Chop was followed by a beam reach to the finish line.

The Holmes Hole Sailing Association’s summer season of handicap racing from Vineyard Haven harbor continued Thursday night, July 1, a beautiful evening with a pleasant 5 to 10 knots of west-southwest wind. Fourteen boats posted for the 6 p.m. start at red nun 6. The course took the fleet to nun 4 at West Chop, then to green can 23a at East Chop and back to nun 6. The first leg was a broad reach on the port tack. After rounding the nun, a run downwind ensued, with the close reach on the starboard tack for the final leg to the finish.

The Holmes Hole Sailing Association commenced its summer season of handicap sailboat racing from Vineyard Haven harbor with a tune-up race on Sunday, June 20. It was a gray, humid early summer day at the noon start, with a brisk, west southwest wind of 15 to 20 knots.

2009

The Holmes Hole Sailing Association continued its summer season of handicap sailboat racing from Vineyard Haven harbor with a Thursday night race on August 20 and two harbor races on August 23.

Thursday, August 7, was a hot, humid, summer evening with a southwest wind of 5-10 knots. Thirteen boats posted for the start at red nun 6 outside of the Vineyard Haven harbor breakwater. The fleet sailed a triangle from nun 6 to nun 4 at West Chop, then to green can 23A at East Chop and back to the finish at nun 6. The first leg was a run downwind.
