The Tisbury school has announced its first quarter honor roll for the 2017-2018 dean’s list.

Student enrollment is slightly down this year in Martha’s Vineyard public schools, according to the annual Oct. 1 school census.

Tisbury school students started lining up at a quarter of eight Tuesday morning, a palpable buzz in the air for the first day of the new school year.

Around the Island, an expected 2,155 students are dusting off backpacks, sharpening pencils and choosing first-day outfits. The first day of school is Tuesday.
