Students wave goodbye as the bus pulls away from West Tisbury school. Albert O. Fischer

Monday, June 29, 2015

With a few extra days tacked on to the end of the year thanks to snow days, Vineyard schools finally wrapped up for the year on Monday, June 29. In West Tisbury, teachers brought out musical instruments to sing goodbye as the school buses pulled away for the final time this school year. It was also the last day for one bus driver: Tom Dresser is retiring after 13 years on the job. There were extra hugs goodbye in Oak Bluffs, too: principal Richie Smith is finishing up his final year at the Oak Bluffs school before he moves on to a post as assistant superintendent. Bring on the popsicles, baseball games, and summer reading!
