Grayson Brazukas of Virginia Beach in front of the Edgartown Fire Station. Ivy Ashe

If you've ever wanted to tour a rescue boat, watch a car extrication demo, or soar into the sky in a tall rescue ladder, the annual Edgartown Fireman's Association Open House and Pancake Breakfast, held Sunday at the fire station, was the place to be. Firefighters dished up pancakes and bacon with a side of fire safety info to hundreds of hungry kids and adults. Training demonstrations enthralled all ages, but only the youngest future firefighters took home shiny red hats. Sparky the Fire Dog also made an appearance, high-fiving the crowd and posing for photos.

Thankfully, he stayed away from the pancakes.
