Last night Vineyarders kept their eyes to the sky to witness the lunar eclipse of the harvest full moon. After 10 p.m., when the moon moved into the umbra (the darkest part of the shadow) it turned a bright pumpkin orange. What illuminates the moon during a lunar eclipse is the echo of a thousand sunsets and sunrises on Earth.

Thank you for the beautiful pictures. Where I live in Florida we had heavy clouds and were only able to get a very brief look before it was gone. Would have loved to be on the Vineyard to see it since with an unobstructed view, it must have been spectacular!

Thank you for the great pictures, but I was really hoping to see the astounding moon above a Vineyard landscape! If anyone has those to post, it would be welcome.
