The water churned with bluefish at Wasque Point last weekend, and fishermen could hardly believe their luck as they reeled in catch after catch. “Some of the best fishing days I’ve ever had,” said Wayne Smith, an avid surfcaster.

The fishing scene at Wasque Point is returning to the old days, before a a northeaster tore through the barrier beach that connects Edgartown and Chappaquiddick, separating Chappy from the mainland and putting the brakes on one of the Island's most beloved fishing spots.
