Mermaids and monsters, superheroes and skeletons roamed down Vineyard streets Saturday for Halloween celebrations. In Vineyard Haven, long a Halloween destination, there was a parade down Main street as trick-or-treating got underway in nearby neighborhoods. Oak Bluffs became a destination this year too, with Vineyard avenue closed to traffic to allow for safe festivities. Elsewhere in Oak Bluffs, Gordon Ponte welcomed groups of children and parents to his portable haunted house, a spooky treat on wheels.
