Every year the Chappy Community Center hosts a potluck supper to honor the Chappy ferry captains and deckhands.

The sudden cold weather that brought the first sleet of the season to Chappaquiddick reminds me of a Thanksgiving several decades ago.

As far as I know the last time a baby was born on Chappaquiddick was back in the mid-seventies.

The Edgartown highway department has begun work on the dirt portion of the ferry point parking lot. Please remove vehicles from that lot after the barricades go up.

The annual Chappy Community Center Open House and Crafts Sale will take place on Saturday, Nov. 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. Chappy artisans will be displaying their handiwork.

Many many late October Saturday evenings ago a nicely dressed couple came over from Chappy and headed into town.

The Chappy ferry is now operating on the winter schedule, which means that the ferry runs continuously from 6:45 a.m. to 8 p.m., then 9 to 10 p.m. and then 11 to 11:15 p.m.

The next Chappy Community Center potluck supper will be hosted by Sue and Chris Phinney on Wednesday, Oct. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. Please bring a dish or dessert of your choosing to serve six.

The Chappy Book Club has postponed their discussion of Circling the Sun until Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the Chappy Community Center.

The next Chappy Community Center potluck dinner will be hosted by Judy Buss and Paul Cardello on Wednesday, Oct. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. Potlucks are held on the first and third Wednesdays of the month. Hosts are needed for upcoming potlucks
