The popular IMP after-school classes are back, on stage at the Oak Bluffs and Edgartown schools.
On Tuesdays, grades six through eight meet at the Oak Bluffs School 4:45 to 6:30 p.m. On Thursdays, grades two to five meet at Edgartown School from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
IMP Improv for Kids offers after-school classes and performance opportunities for grades two to twelve. Students learn how to master improv, story theater and acting skills in a supportive environment. The program offers performance opportunities for advanced students including the teen improv troupe the IMPers who performed last spring at the 10th annual Chicago Improv Festival.
In these classes, instructor Donna Swift teaches the students how to create comedy improv scenes and story theater pieces like the ones used by the IMP performance troupes. Students are given the chance to show off their improv skills and story theater pieces in end-of-the-session performances. Consistent students are often invited to become members of IMPulse.
The fall session runs from Oct. 2 to Dec. 10. The cost is $110 for all sessions or $20 per class. There is a discount available for paying the whole year’s tuition by October 1. For details, call Contact Donna Swift 508-939-9368 e-mail info@troubledshores.com.
