Color photographer Paulette Wexler and Impressionist painter Bettie Eubanks met in an exercise class on Martha’s Vineyard several years ago and quickly discovered they shared a passion for color, texture, reflected light and beauty.
They will present their work at the Weekend Garden Gallery at 106 County Road, Oak Bluffs (one mile from the hospital) receptions today and Saturday, August 23, from 3 to 6 p.m.
Paulette Wexler is known for her sharp, intense colors and keen eye for close-ups on aspects of the world which others may not see. An art teacher for many years, she became a social worker helping managers and employees of Polaroid with their difficult issues. At Polaroid, she became enamored with the camera; her photographic work has been exhibited in juried art shows, galleries on Martha’s Vineyard and around New England.
Bettie Eubanks is known for her passionate floral expressions. Inspired by her Martha’s Vineyard garden, her paintings reflect light, nurture and joy through color via mixed media. She has been a part of the Martha’s Vineyard summer character since the early Seventies.
