The Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Society has issued a call for applicants for their annual grant program. Eligible are all farm related individuals or organizations whose goal is to improve the quality of life and contribute to the sustainability of the Martha’s Vineyard agricultural community.
The MVAS is a nonprofit organization, created in 1859, and funded by contributions from the membership and supporters who attend any one of several annual community events. The aim of the society is to provide assistance to the Island farm community in the form of annual grants to farming individuals and organizations in need of funding for unique projects or programs. The society gives special consideration to innovative approaches to problems or needs that cannot receive funding through traditional sources.
Island farming individuals or organizations are invited to submit a concise proposal describing their specific project, its potential benefits, budgetary requirements and the grant amount requested. Proposals must be received by April 1, 2009 and may be sent to: MVAS, P.O. Box 73, West Tisbury, 02575. Questions may be directed to Eleanor Neubert at 508-693-4343.
