Palestinian interfaith expert Aziz Abu Sarah, a peace building practitioner of 10 years, will offer a first-hand perspective on the prospects for a negotiated, two-state resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the role activists can play in achieving it at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 26, free at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center on Centre street in Vineyard Haven.

Abu Sarah, Palestinian chair, director of Middle East projects with the Center for World Religions, Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University, Palestinian chairman of the Bereaved Families Forum, and cofounder of Al-Tariq Institute, which runs pro-democracy programming in the West Bank, will speak at an open community event on the Vineyard as part of a national tour.

Abu Sarah previously cohosted Changing Directions, a bilingual radio show at All for Peace radio and is a recipient of the Silver Rose Award from the European Parliament, the Goldberg Prize for Peace in the Middle East from the Institute of International Education, and the Eisenhower Medallion from People to People International.

This evening is sponsored by the Social Action Committee of the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center and is open to the public. There is no admission charge.
