This weekend Dr. Richard Brown, an associate professor in clinical psychology at Columbia University, will visit the Yoga Barn in West Tisbury, to teach breathing techniques that help allay anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, depression and other maladies.

Dr. Brown’s work draws on the traditions of both ancient and modern mind-body techniques.

Proceeds support the nonprofit Serving Those Who Serve, which helps those recovering from the effects of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks with integrative and holistic healing. This workshop is open to the public. Bodyworkers, caregivers, yoga teachers and psychotherapists are encouraged to learn about incorporating these techniques into their work.

Saturday’s session runs from 2 to 7 p.m.; Sunday’s from 1 to 6 p.m. Cost is $325 for the general public, or $200 for caregivers, healers and yoga teachers. Register at stws.org. For details, call 347-306-0729 or 508-776-9428.
